We had to keep this costume hidden from Owen for three weeks between when we bought it and Halloween. We had a tough time getting it off of him when he tried it on for size. So of course, it surprised us when, at 6:15 on Halloween morning, Owen said he wanted to be a pirate. Luckily, we diverted his focus back to being excited about his Thomas costume, and he kept it on for almost twelve hours. All the teachers and kids loved the hat the most, though we thought it was so tight on his head that he could have passed for either A) a Chinese communist or B) one of the Village People. Owen loved trick-or-treating in the new neighborhood, which is full of little ones, but he was hesitant about ringing the doorbells of any house where there was a dog barking. No problem with us, we just skipped them and moved around the neighborhood faster!
