Ahoy!

I am now two months into the voyage of stay-at-home mommyhood, with another two months to go before the new school year begins. There've been some doldrums and there have also been some pretty notable storms. Here are some of my reflections:

Top ten things I now appreciate about being a "working" mom (although, we're all working moms and dads!), and a paycheck is NOT on my list:

Putting my coffee cup near the edge of any surface with reckless abandon.
Getting to the bathroom sooner as opposed to later.
Seeing sheer joy and love on the boys' faces when I pick them up at the end of my work day.
Running out during my free period to do errands to the dry cleaner, bank, post office, etc.
Going to the grocery store after school, during daylight hours and without the kids.
Rearranging my schedule when I'm having an "off" day.
Smelling dinner cooking as I walk through the door.
Telling school stories at the dinner table.
Seeing other adults throughout the day aside from the mail carrier.
Not hurdling over baby gates to get to my destination.

Top ten things I will miss and enjoy even more on weekends and vacations:

Enjoying a leisurely breakfast with the boys and hanging out in our PJ's.
Bathing one child at a time, whenever that one child needs it.
Story time all day long instead of just bedtime.
Snack time.
Nap time.
Host chat with Regis and Kelly -- even if it is just on in the background.
Throwing the kids in the minivan just to go for a drive.
Coloring.
Play Dough.
Bubbles.
