Two already -- time flies! Owen celebrated his birthday three times -- two family parties and one at school. The theme was The Wonder Pets, and BOY did he love it! From "Pin the Hat on Ming Ming" to his special "Fly Boat" cake topper, everything made Owen happy. On his second birthday itself, Owen made a trip to the doctor for his check-up. Of course, now he is smart to the whole doctor's office thing. He remembered exactly where we were. The last time he had been there was Christmas Eve when he had the flu and a 105 fever -- can't blame him for associating negatively! From the beginning of his appointment, he kept screaming "All done!" We think that cocktails should be served immediately following any toddler's visit to the pediatrician. He was 29 pounds and 3 feet, two inches tall. No more baby fat! Seriously, we cannot believe how quickly he is growing, and how much he has to say. March's unit at Kindercare was on the weather and flight, so we were instructed every day by professor Owen. "Bird...airplane...tree...rain." The April showers have not gone unnoticed by Owen. He is now also our resident expert on Spiderman, animal crackers, Elmo and much more. He has the ears of a bat, and can hear the commuter bus coming down the street from two or three blocks away -- with the door closed. We REFUSE to be "those" parents who spell everything out for fear of ensuing whining and tantrums. So we speak cryptically with an esoteric vocabulary. We know, same difference, but it does keep the mind sharp to say "beverage" instead of "cup" and to think of all the creative new terms for the everyday. In the past week, we have taken the boys out in the double stroller for some fresh air, and it is clear to us that Owen is running for mayor. Everyone gets a greeting... no matter how far away, and they get greeted continually until there is some response, or until they pass us by.
